Jupiter

Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest planet in the Solar System, a gas giant whose mass exceeds that of all the other planets combined by more than two and a half times. Orbiting at an average distance of about 778 million kilometres (5.2 astronomical units), Jupiter completes one revolution around the Sun roughly every 11.86 Earth years while rotating on its axis in under ten hours, the shortest day of any planet. Bright enough to be seen with the naked eye as one of the most luminous objects in the night sky, Jupiter has been known to humanity since antiquity and is named after the chief deity of Roman mythology. Its banded, storm-wracked atmosphere, its family of large moons, and its immense magnetosphere have made it a central object of astronomical study from the invention of the telescope to the present day.
